1991年11月、『A Celebration of 25 Years of Frank Zappa's Music』と銘打たれ、当初ザッパ本人も出演予定だった、スペシャル・イベント「ザッパズ・ユニバース」は、ニューヨークのザ・リッツにて4夜連続公演が行なわれることに。そのうちの11月7&8日の2公演を、いずれも関係者流出による、オフィシャル・クオリティー、テレオ・サウンドボード音源にてコンプリート収録。まずザッパ本人は結果的に亡くなる原因となった病気のため、キャンセルとなり出演は叶わなかったものの、息子のドゥイージルやアーメット、ムーン・ザッパをはじめ、スティーブ・ヴァイやマイク・ケネリー、デイル・ボジオら、ザッパゆかりのメンバーをはじめ総勢38名が参加するという一大イベントで、後にその一部がTVオンエアーされたり、オフィシャル・ライブもリリースもされたものの、いずれもダイジェストだったゆえ、ここでの2日間のショーの全貌を捉えた音源はやはり貴重なもの。特にスティーブ・ヴァイが参加した「Sofa」と「Dirty Love」の2曲は、素晴らしい演奏で、これにより、ヴァイは同年のグラミー賞最優秀ロック・インストゥルメンタル・パフォーマンス賞を受賞したり、翌1994年には、オフィシャル・ライブ『ZAPPA'S UNIVERSE』も、グラミー賞受賞となった、ザッパ・ワールドの集大成ライブを、ベスト・クオリティーで。 DISC 1 : 01.
